What To Expect From Season 14

Hello everybody! 

As of right now, we are currently exactly four weeks until the premiere of Season 14 of The Masked Singer! And not only that, we also have quite a bit of information right now! But because I want to have as much information as possible in this post, I will wait however long I need to until I feel I have enough information to share with you all.

So, with this little disclaimer out of the way, let’s get started!

The first thing you need to know is that the time of its release is very unusual, as typically the show does two seasons a year, and normally, this season would actually be airing at the time I am writing this. For whatever reason, they chose to take the Fall off, in favor of returning bigger on January 7. While it made this time of year a little harder for me, I can definitely say that my expectations for Season 14 have been raised.

As almost all of you can probably guess, Nick Cannon is back as host, and the panelists are once again Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora.

The season is also going to start off in the biggest way imaginable, as there is going to be a two hour Season Premiere with a double unmasking, and a total of ten contestants, which is the largest number of contestants the show has ever had in a single episode.

Much like all the recent seasons, Theme Nights are back, and this time, they are even more creative and crazy than ever before.

The first Theme Night they are going to have is Star Trek Night, in honor of the franchise’s 60th anniversary. I have absolutely no idea what this Theme Night could entail, or what songs could be performed, but I am intrigued to see what will happen.

The next Theme Night they are going to have is Clueless Night, which is in honor of the iconic 90s movie. Again, I have no idea what this Theme Night could entail, nor what songs could be performed, but I do know that this Theme Night sums up the panelists perfectly, and I’m intrigued to see how this plays out as well.

The next Theme Night they are going to have is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night. Yet again, I have no idea what this will entail, nor what songs could be performed, but I’m sure it will be fun, and it’s great to see the show once again having a Theme Night dedicated to a character that has also been in the Stamford Balloon Parade. 

The next Theme Night they are going to have is Twilight Night. I have no idea what it will entail exactly, but I can almost guarantee you that one of the songs that will be performed is A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.

The next Theme Night they are going to have is Spice Girls Night, which is very self-explanatory.

The next Theme Night they are going to have is Care Bears Night. Yes, you read that correctly, and no, I am not making this up. Yet again, I have no idea what this will entail, nor what songs could be performed, but I’m sure it will be fun, and it’s great to see the show once again having a Theme Night dedicated to a character that has also been in the Stamford Balloon Parade. And in case you were wondering, I did copy and paste this from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles section. Crazy how that same sentence applies to two Theme Nights this season.

The next Theme Night they are going to have is Fear Factor: House Of Fear Night. I have no idea what songs will be performed, but I do know that this is being done as a way of cross promotion for the new show that will be on after The Masked Singer, and its host Johnny Knoxville will also be a special guest on the episode to deliver some clues.

The last Theme Night they are going to have is Ozzfest Night. This episode is going to honor rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, and will also feature an appearance from past contestant Kelly Osbourne, who will be there to pay tribute to her father. I think this is incredibly sweet, and considering all that she has been going through since it happened, I hope that this is able to help her find some peace.

Next, we have the accolades among all the contestants!

For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, this means the accomplishments they all have among each other. 

They are a combined 94 million records sold, 21 platinum singles, 3 Emmy wins, 3 Hall Of Famers, 3 World Series wins, 54,438,600 Instagram followers, 3 Grammy wins, 47 Teen Choice Award nominations, 12 Emmy nominations, two stars on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, one Tony Award win, and one Academy Award nomination. 

Next, we have the costumes! 

There are going to be a total of 18 contestants this season, and as of right now, we know the names of 15 of them, there are a few we still have yet to be properly introduced to but have seen in the trailer, and there is also one that we still don’t know anything about.

And ignore everything I just said here, because now we know all 18 of them. 

The first contestant that is going to be on this season is called 14 Karat Carrot. For those of you who are wondering what this means, it’s a carrot costume that is golden and has the number 14 because it is Season 14. I don’t know anything about this contestant yet, but judging by the Men In Black being on stage with him holding boomboxes, I feel like he is going to be a rapper. Judging by the fact that he doesn’t seem to be very tall, and the fact that the fanny pack on his costume has a scale on it, which could mean Libra, my early guess for now is Jermaine Dupri.

The next contestant that is going to be on this season is called Calla Lilly. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a type of flower. I know absolutely nothing about this contestant right now, but I do know due to her introduction video that the costume has a teddy bear pin, and if there is anything I have learned from this show, it’s that any time there is something on a costume that makes no sense thematically, it’s because it’s a clue to who is underneath the mask.

And since I initially wrote this, I found out more about her. 

Many contestants last season were out and about in California at locations that also served as clues for them, and the same has already been true of this season. Calla Lily was spotted in front of the Beverly Hills sign. As soon as I saw this, my mind immediately went to one of the cast members of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, or a celebrity whose name is literally Beverly, like Beverly D’Angelo or Beverley Mitchell.

However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that there were actually a lot of shows and movies that had Beverly Hills in their name, and the more I realized it wasn’t as simple as I thought. 

It was at this point in time that I managed to reverse engineer some of the clues that I already had, and then figure out a person they could apply to. I knew that this person was in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, the teddy bear on the costume could be because this person’s most famous role is playing a character named Teddy Duncan, and in Hollywood Junket’s writeup, they talked about a contestant who was a former child star who took a step back from what made her rich and famous, and this person now has a multi-million dollar satellite data startup, so assuming all this is correct, my early guess for her is none other than Bridgit Mendler.

This next part that you are about to read was written well after the part you just read, so just remember that as you are reading it. 

Back in November, one of the people who works on the show took a picture to celebrate the fact that it was Press Day, and posted it to her Instagram Story, and in the process of doing so, accidentally shared the top eight contestants by showing the wall with the Crack The Case Clue Cases on them. The show has also posted images of some of the Crack The Case Clue Cases, and while I thought I saw the one for Calla Lily among the other seven, upon further investigation and cross-referencing, I have since determined this to not be the case, and with her seeming to have only one performance background in the trailers, I am currently assuming that she is only on one episode, in which case I have come up with another theory. 

The Beverly Hills sign is because she is on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and the teddy bear on the costume is referring to her name, in which case my other early guess for Calla Lily is Teddi Mellencamp. Now I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is yes, she is the daughter of John Mellencamp. 

The next contestant, or should I say contestants, that are going to be on this season are The Croissants. Due to a writeup from the online publication Hollywood Junket, I won’t say that I have a good idea as to who is under the mask, as much as I already know who it is because they basically spelled it out, and let me just say this right now, you are not going to believe in a million years what I am about to say.

I am positive that The Croissants are Todd & Julie Chrisley, and the song they will be performing is Jailhouse Rock.

Yes, you read that correctly. I think that this is the closest we will ever get to a real life example of these quotes from Family Guy. 

“He’ll just do a magazine cover with a wink to who he is, and all will be forgiven,” and “If he’s such a bad guy, why’s he on a magazine?”

I genuinely can’t think of any quotes that sum this up any better.

The next contestant that is going to be on this season is The Eggplant. I know absolutely nothing about him right now, other than that he looks like Grimace from McDonald’s. But just from looking at the costume, I feel like he will either be surprisingly very good at singing, or one of the worst singers the show has ever had, with no other possibility.

The next contestant that is going to be on this season is Googly Eyes, which a costume that is on wheels, looks like a character from Monsters Inc, and according to Hollywood Junket, resulted in the panelists guessing athletes. And since one of the accolades this season is three World Series wins, I think this could be our baseball player.

The next contestant that is going to be on this season is called High Voltage. This costume has two electrical plugs as arms, several other electrical things on it, and an electrical orb as its head. As of right now, we don’t know much about the costume, but there are a few important details that I feel have given me a fairly good early guess. The costume was first revealed by the Fox Soccer account, the head is literally a soccer ball, and it also has the number 22. So with all that, my early guess for High Voltage is former soccer player turned singer Alexi Lalas. 

The next contestant that is going to be on this season is called Le Who Who. Yes, you read that correctly. I am not making it up, that is actually what they called one of the costumes. It is a play on the popular Labubu dolls, and is a pink mouse-like creature with a yellow shirt and miniskirt and a beret. I know absolutely nothing about this contestant right now.

The next contestant that is going to be on this season is The Owl. As of right now, I know absolutely nothing about this contestant, other than the fact that this costume literally looks a Furby doll and has a sheriff’s badge, which could mean that it’s someone who has played a police officer, and also does not narrow it down to anyone at all.

The next contestant that is going to be on this season is Queen Corgi, which is a corgi that is literally dressed like the queen. From reading what Hollywood Junket had written about her in their writeup, I knew that it was probably a podcast host or an influencer of some type. Last week, Queen Corgi was one of the three costumes at a location that served as a clue, which was a restaurant called Bravo Toast, and she was also holding a Help Wanted sign. From there, I was fairly confident that it was a Bravo star, maybe even someone from Vanderpump Rules, as a lot of them have podcasts, but I also felt that it was too obvious, and I didn’t know what the Help Wanted sign meant.

So after some time passed, I went to Google to see if there were any shows with “Toast” in their name, and all I found was shows that definitely did not have anyone that would ever be competing on The Masked Singer, so then I changed my search to podcasts with “Toast” in their name, and this is where things get interesting.

The first result that I found was a podcast called The Toast. As soon as I saw that, I knew that it sounded familiar, but I could not imagine why. After a few seconds, I realized that it was the podcast that Jenny had been a guest on a few days beforehand, and not only that, she had a one on one conversation with one of the two hosts, and even complimented her singing ability. So then I searched for the host on Google, and I quickly found that her Instagram handle and the name of her book was Girl Without A Job, so my early guess for Queen Corgi is Claudia Oshry.

The next contestant they are going to have is called Cat Witch. It’s pretty self-explanatory, it’s a cat dressed like a witch, and I know absolutely nothing about her right now.

The next contestant they are going to have is Crane. For those of you who are curious, this costume is referring to the bird, not the construction vehicle. All I know about her is that in one trailer, as they were showing the costume, the words “Pop Diva” appeared on the screen. This does not help me at all, as I feel that it could be anyone.

The next costume they are going to have is called Handyman. It’s a construction worker in a yellow work uniform and hardhat, brown work boots, a tool belt, wrenches for arms, and a metal head. In other words, he looks like a Robot Version Of Bob The Builder. I initially had virtually nothing to say about this contestant, until a trailer found its way onto the internet yesterday. 

In this trailer, there was a scene of Robin making a guess for a contestant, but they didn’t show which one, but the panelists were clearly wearing the same clothes they were wearing in the premiere, so I decided to reverse engineer what I had seen in the Hollywood Junket writeup and apply it to one of the contestants. I knew that it couldn’t be The Croissants for obvious reasons that I just talked about, or Googly Eyes because this person is not an athlete, so I decided to go down the path of someone who knows Al Pacino, even though I knew the chances of this celebrity actually knowing him were so small that they almost didn’t exist. 

But as I was doing my research, I found that this person was in a movie called Heat with Al Pacino, so with Robin’s help and the Hollywood Junket writeup, my early guess for Handyman is, and I cannot believe I’m saying this, rapper and actor Tone Lōc.

The next costume they are going to have is Scarab, and for those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s an Egyptian Beetle. We heard a little snippet of her singing in a trailer, which as a slowed down ballad style performance of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and they also showed Nick calling her the most decorated contestant. From there, I figured that it was some legendary celebrity underneath the costume. My suspicions were seemingly confirmed when I saw that one of the accolades this season is one Oscar nomination. When I found that another accolade this season was 16 NAACP Award wins, I went to Google to see which celebrities had won the most NAACP Awards, and there was one celebrity that I found that almost fit these accolades perfectly. One day later, the costume was spotted at a clue location while also holding a clue object, and she was standing at Fox Studios while holding a cookie. This confirmed in my mind that Scarab is none other than Taraji P Henson, who is best known for playing Cookie on the Fox show Empire.

The next costume they are going to have is Snowcone. I don’t know anything about the celebrity underneath the costume, but I do know that Hollywood Junket said that this person sounded like a professional singer.

The next costume they are going to have is Pangolin, which is an animal that is often called a scaly anteater. The costume itself has high heels, which tells me that a woman is inside the costume, and it also has a cape and a hat like what Robin Hood or Peter Pan wore. Get it? Pangolin, Peter Pan? I don’t know anything about the celebrity underneath the costume, but I did see the costume in a clip in a trailer from the ninth episode. 

The next costume they are going to have is Stingray. According to the Hollywood Junket writeup, he sounded like he was a professional singer. Also, he is clearly close in height to Nick, who is six feet tall. 

The next costume they are going to have is called Galaxy Girl, which is an outer space themed costume with many planets on it. While we don’t have any information on her right now, we have actually heard her sing in a trailer, where she did a great job singing Try by Pink. I have no idea who it is singing, but two guesses that I have seen come up more than once are country singer Martina McBride and 2000s pop singer Ashlee Simpson. 

The last costume they are going to have is called Pugcasso. Yes, it’s exactly what you think it is. It’s a pug that is colored in bright paint colors. His performance was actually released a full month before the season premiere, and it was an amazing performance of Ordinary by Alex Warren, which definitely cements him in my mind as a frontrunner. As someone who lives under a rock when it comes to recognizing voices, I could not figure it out for myself, but I looked at what the popular guesses on the internet were, and two that stood out to me were American Idol winner Philip Phillips and Chord Overstreet from Glee. I agree that those are both great guesses with a ton of possibility, but there are some other things that I want to consider. One thing is that there is a trailer that showed profession name tags on some of the contestants, and one of them said “Boy Band Legend” for someone who was taller, and in the trailer for the season, they showed the panelists and Nick saying that he completely threw them off and no one guessed him. They did not specify who they were talking about, but I just have a feeling they’re talking about Pugcasso, and if I had to guess, if he really is a boy band legend, I think he could be JC Chasez from NSYNC.

The writeup from Hollywood Junket also mentioned two other contestants, the first one being someone who got her start when she was younger, is not a perfectionist, and took a step back from what made her rich and famous. From this, I am thinking that we could have a former Nickelodeon or Disney star on our hands, or this could be Ashlee Simpson. 

The other contestant described himself as a nepo baby who had parents that would throw big parties with famous people, and he also grew up with Paris Hilton. From there, I searched celebrities who used to be friends with Paris Hilton that also had famous parents, which brought me to my early guess of Brandon Jenner.

Hollywood Junket also said that some person who went to a taping this season said that one of the contestants this season was also on the recent season of Celebrity Weakest Link. This is supporting evidence that Chord Overstreet is on this season, but I also feel that it could apply to Owl with the sheriff badge being Reginald VelJohnson, who is most famous for playing police officers in Family Matters and Die Hard, and was on an episode of Celebrity Weakest Link.

The last piece of information we have is from the show itself, as for the first time, they have a Masked Insider. If you are wondering what this means, it means that there is a celebrity that we already know is on the season, but nobody else on the show does, and she will be providing behind the scenes stuff throughout the entire season. This celebrity is actress and singer Kylie Cantrall, who is best known for starring in the Descendants film series alongside Rita Ora, which could mean that we will either get a moment where Rita figures out that her daughter from the movies is a contestant, or a moment where she is upset with herself for not guessing correctly. We will also be finding out what costume she is wearing next Wednesday, but if I had to guess, I think it will be one of the costumes in the first episode, either Snow Cone or Cat Witch.

Overall, that is everything you can expect from Season 14 of The Masked Singer! I hope you all enjoyed this, and I’ll see you all next week with the premiere.
