George Clinton - The Gopher
Even though he was only on the show for one episode, one of the most memorable contestants of Season 8 was the Gopher, who was revealed to be legendary funk musician and singer George Clinton. He gave us an entertaining performance of “It’s Your Thing” by the Isley Brothers, and then gave an impressive performance of “All Star” by Smash Mouth. What also stands out about his time on the show was the fact that he was on Hall of Fame Night because he is in more than one music hall of fame, has a lifetime achievement award, and one of his stage props is in the Smithsonian Museum. One of the best parts of his time on the show came after he was unmasked, and he performed his song “Give Up the Funk,” and invited the entire panel and special guest Sheila E. to join him onstage to sing with him.
