George Clinton - The Gopher



Even though he was only on the show for one episode, one of the most memorable contestants of Season 8 was the Gopher, who was revealed to be legendary funk musician and singer George Clinton. He gave us an entertaining performance of “It’s Your Thing” by the Isley Brothers, and then gave an impressive performance of “All Star” by Smash Mouth. What also stands out about his time on the show was the fact that he was on Hall of Fame Night because he is in more than one music hall of fame, has a lifetime achievement award, and one of his stage props is in the Smithsonian Museum. One of the best parts of his time on the show came after he was unmasked, and he performed his song “Give Up the Funk,” and invited the entire panel and special guest Sheila E. to join him onstage to sing with him.



If you enjoyed him while he was on the show, you might want to see him while he is on what could potentially be his final tour. For people in the Northeast, on October 27, he will be performing at Xcite Center at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania at 8:00 PM. He will have another show the very next day, October 28, at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury in Westbury, New York at 8:00 PM.

After that, he will have two shows in California on November 24 and 25, with the first one in Los Angeles and the second one in Oakland. Then, he will take another short break before starting back up in December. He will start by having two shows in Texas on December 14 and 15, with the first one in Austin and the second one in San Antonio. The week after that, he will be doing three more shows in California, on December 21, 22, and 23. The first show will be in Pomona, the second show will be in Monterey, and the third show will be in Ventura.

As always, we hope you will agree with who we think should do it and the reasoning as to why. The first celebrity that we think should do it is actor and comedian Denis Leary. While this might seem like a random choice, we have a good reason for why he should do it. He has done some singing as part of his comedy, and his voice is actually very good. What he is singing is typically very offensive, but he puts as much effort into it as any other singer would with their performance. The show has already had several comedians that you had no idea were as good as they are at singing, so Denis Leary would be another great person to add to that category. The first celebrity that we feel would be perfect for the show is actor Billy Bob Thornton.
