The Season 12 Finale

Image
After four months with an amazing Twelfth Season, it was time for it to come to an end with The Finale! I was looking forward to this episode a lot, like I always do with the finales of other seasons, because I know that we would probably be in for four of the best performances of the season. I also felt like this would be the closest finale the show had in a long time, as while other finales have been great with amazing performances from all the contestants involved, there has always been one contestant that was clearly the frontrunner compared to the other ones. This time, Wasp and Buffalos were both equally strong, so it could have gone either way. And, when I found out what songs they were going to perform, I still knew that it could go either way because of how strong all four of their songs were. The episode started in a very unique way, as it opened with a guest performance from a past contestant. While a past contestant coming back for a guest performance to open the show is no...

The Semifinals

Image
After an amazing episode last week with the Quarterfinals, it was time for the Semifinals! I was looking forward to this episode, as I knew that all three singers were great, which meant that we were in for three great performances. When I first saw the trailers for this episode, I was a little confused as to why they weren’t showing Rita in the trailers, but I quickly found out from the internet that she was sick during this episode, so she wasn’t there at all. I was a little surprised that there was nobody filling in for her, but if I had to guess, this probably happened at the last minute, and they didn’t have enough time to find someone else to fill in for her.  The episode started off the same way that many other episodes this season started, with a group performance from the three remaining contestants, who performed “Some Nights” by Fun. As I have said several times already, I enjoy these group performances, as they give each contestant a chance to stand out together and sho...

The Quarterfinals

Image
After an amazing episode last week with the Group C Finals in Peanuts Night, it was time for the Quarterfinals! I was looking forward to this episode, as I knew that we had four amazing contestants left, and as a result, we would be in for four amazing performances. The episode didn’t begin with a group performance, but with Nick introducing each of the four remaining contestants while “Just Like Fire” by Pink was playing, which I was okay with as this was also how the Quarterfinals began last season. After that, Nick explained how the episode was going to work, as he said that the contestants would perform, the audience and panel would vote, the top two singers would advance to the Semifinals, while the bottom two singers would compete in a Smackdown.  The first performer of the night was The Wasp. In his clue package, he said that he really felt the love making it this far in the competition. He then said that growing up without a consistent definition of what true love looked li...

Peanuts Night

Image
After an amazing episode with Miley Cyrus Night last week, it was time for the Group C Finals! In the months leading up to this episode, I had been led to believe that this episode was going to have a generic theme of Thanksgiving. This did not surprise me, as Thanksgiving was a theme night they had done back in Season 8, though it was a little disappointing that they were ending the theme nights with a theme that wasn’t much of a theme. When a listing for the episode was released a few weeks ago, it didn’t even acknowledge that there was any sort of theme to the episode, which I found very surprising. During Miley Cyrus Night last week, they made an announcement that I did not see coming, which was that the episode was going to be Peanuts Night. I quickly found out what that meant, as they aired a trailer for it right after the episode ended, and I saw that all the Peanuts characters were going to be part of it in the form of giant costumes worn by people. This was one of the first su...

Miley Cyrus Night

Image
After an amazing start to Group C last week with Who Are You Fest, it was time to see them again in Miley Cyrus Night! I was looking forward to this episode, as all the other episodes centered around the music of a specific artist have all been good, and I knew there were four great singers in the episode. I also thought it was great that the show was doing a theme night for Miley Cyrus, as it shows that she has reached the status of other artists they have had entire nights for like ABBA, Elton John, Billy Joel, and Queen.  The episode started off with a group performance from all four Group C contestants singing “Party in the USA.” I was a bit surprised that there was a group performance in this episode, as they typically have those in the Group Finals, but I still enjoyed it, as it let all four contestants, who are all singers, have a chance to stand out together and show off their own unique vocal abilities.  The first performer of the night was Sherlock Hound. In his clue...

Who Are You Fest

Image
After an amazing return last week with 60s Night, it was time to finally meet Group C in Who Are You Fest! I was excited to meet the last five contestants, as since we were with each group for three weeks each, it almost felt like a new season when we met the next group, especially since Group A first arrived in September, Group B first arrived in October, and Group C first arrived in November. I was also intrigued by what the performances would be in this episode, as it was announced that it would be songs by artists who have performed at music festivals. When the episode got closer, I found that the contestants for the most part had chosen random songs, which I thought was great, as it meant the contestants would be performing songs that they were comfortable with. There wasn’t much of a big intro to this episode, as it was just Nick introducing each of the panelists one by one, and from there we met the first performer of the night, which was Royal Knight. Her Masked Ambassador was ...

60s Night

Image
After a great episode with Barbie Night, a week off due to the World Series, and the most stressful election in recent times, it was time for 60s Night on The Masked Singer! With how the election turned out, I’m sure you can all agree that The Masked Singer is something that is desperately needed at this time. I was also looking forward to this episode, as it’s not that common that a contestant sings an older song, so I was interested in seeing what songs they would go for.  The episode started off the same way as many other Group Finals in recent seasons, which is a group performance with the remaining three contestants in the group. I always enjoy group performances, as it lets the contestants stand out together. They also performed “Fun, Fun, Fun” by The Beach Boys, which is somehow the first song by The Beach Boys that has ever been performed on the show. Nick also mentioned that the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell was still in play for this episode, and I had a feeling that it was g...

Barbie Night

Image
After an amazing start to Group B last week with Sports Night, it was time to see them again with Barbie Night! I was looking forward to this episode, as all four contestants were great last week, and I was sure we were going to get more great performances in this episode. When I first heard that Barbie Night was going to be an episode this season, I had no idea what that would mean, as I was wondering if all the contestants were going to perform songs from the movie “Barbie.” I soon found out that was not entirely the case, as it turned out the contestants would be performing songs by female singers and songs about women, which I felt gave them more choices. The episode started off in an entertaining way, as it opened with Ken Jeong giving a surprisingly very good performance of “I’m Just Ken” from the “Barbie” movie. As soon as I saw they were doing Barbie Night this season, I knew that they were going to have this song in some way or make Ken jokes throughout the episode.  After...

Sports Night

Image
After three great episodes with Group A, it was time to meet Group B in Sports Night! I was looking forward to meeting five new contestants, as since we had been with Group A for three weeks, it almost felt like it was a new season entirely, which I feel is probably how I’m going to feel when we meet Group C in a few weeks. The episode started by showing that they were going all in on the theme of Sports Night, as it presented itself like a typical sports broadcast, even having Joel McHale and Nikki Glaser as guest commentators throughout the episode. The panelists then came out dressed in boxing gloves and robes, and Robin and Rita then gave a great performance of “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by The Scorpions. The panelists then made their way to their desk, at which point they removed their boxing gear to show that they were all wearing different sports uniforms underneath. After that, it was time to meet the first performer of the night, which was The Wasp. I was happy to find out th...

Soundtrack Of My Life Night

Image
After two amazing episodes to start off the season, it was time for the Group A Finals with Soundtrack of My Life Night! I was looking forward to this for many reasons, as this is a theme night that has led to many great performances in the previous two seasons, and all three contestants were already amazing singers, so I knew we were going to get more great performances.  The episode started off the same way as the group finals last season, with a group performance from all three contestants. They performed “High Hopes” by Panic at The Disco, and how they performed was they each took turns singing a line in the verse before all coming together at the chorus. I always enjoy these group performances, as it gives the contestants an opportunity to show off what they sound like together and showcase their unique vocal abilities. After that, Nick then said that tonight would be a double elimination, unless the panelists chose to ring the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell on one of the contestan...

Footloose Night

Image
After an amazing premiere last week, it was time for Footloose Night on The Masked Singer! As we were sticking with Group A again this week, I was sure that we were going to have four amazing performances from the returning contestants.  The episode started off in a way that I knew it would, with Robin Thicke performing the song “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins, which I thought was a good performance. Much like with most of the other past theme nights, the panelists and Nick Cannon all dressed up to match the theme of the episode, with Robin and Nick both dressed as Kevin Bacon’s character in the movie.  The first performer of the night was The Showbird. In her clue package, she said that she always knew that if she ever got a chance to perform in front of the lights, she would do something good with it. So, when she got that chance, work became her entire life, and she was married to it. She then said that she couldn’t help but feel that something was missing from her life, which...
