My Thoughts On Every Single Contestant

Hello everybody!

Over the weekend, a trailer for Season 14 of The Masked Singer aired on TV, which naturally got me even more excited for it. So, I felt that I had to write another blog post about the show. It took me a while to figure out what I would write about this time, but ultimately, I decided that I would write the most ambitious blog post I have ever done yet.

I am going to share with you all my thoughts on every single contestant that has ever been on the show!

As that number is well over 100, I will do my best to keep everything brief, not just for all of you reading, but for me as well.

Also, for reasons that I am choosing not to get into, I will not be covering anybody from Season 7, and for those of you who know me well, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

So, with all that out of the way, let’s get started!

Antonio Brown - not the best singer, but also not the worst singer, the backing track did a lot of work in his performance, and he deserved to be the first unmasked.

Tommy Chong - legendary comedian, but definitely not a singer, as he mumbled his way through I Will Survive, and even got the lyrics wrong.

Terry Bradshaw - for a football player who has actually put out some music, he is not that good at singing.

Margaret Cho - she is easily the first good singer to get unmasked in the series.

Tori Spelling - not the best singer the show has ever had, but not the worst, though I have no idea how she beat T-Pain in their face-off in the first episode.

Ricki Lake - pretty good singer, I feel her first performance of Rainbow by Kesha was her best performance.

La Toya Jackson - okay singer, but most of her performances were too short, even by Season 1 standards.

Rumer Willis - great singer for someone who has never put out music, and I would have been okay if she had made it to the finale, but she was among four other amazing contestants.

Joey Fatone - great singer and great job getting into character as The Rabbit.

Gladys Knight - she is a living legend for a reason, and she is such an amazing singer.

Donny Osmond - such an amazing singer, his performance of The Greatest Show was the perfect way to kick off the show.

T-Pain - amazing singer who did a great job not only winning but beating two living legends.

Johnny Weir - he was fine, but it’s not surprising that he was the first unmasking of the season.

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins - he gave a good performance of Old Town Road, but compared to the other singers in his group, it wasn’t surprising that he was the first unmasking.

Laila Ali - not the worst singer, but she was literally up against three amazing singers, so she wouldn’t have gone beyond her first episode.

Dr Drew Pinsky - chose to sing Meat Loaf in the weirdest operatic tone I have ever heard, and that’s all I am going to say.

Paul Shaffer - good singer, but it was unsurprising that he got unmasked when he did.

Sherri Shepherd - she was alright, but it’s unsurprising that she got unmasked after singing All About That Bass.

Raven Symone - she was really great, and she only got unmasked when she did because of an injury she sustained off the show, otherwise I guarantee you she would have gone further.

Kelly Osbourne - good singer, but she was up against four amazing singers in her final episode, so it wasn’t surprising she got out when she did.

Patti LaBelle - another living legend for a reason, kind of surprising that she got out when she did.

Michelle Williams - such an amazing singer that got unmasked in a very close episode.

Ana Gasteyer - surprisingly an amazing singer who deserved to go as far as she did.

Victor Oladipo - one of the best athletes the show has ever had as a contestant.

Seal - he is obviously such an amazing singer.

Adrienne Bailon Houghton - while she doesn’t do much singing anymore, I think she should, because she has an amazing voice.

Chris Daughtry - he is obviously an amazing singer, and it was his performance of Someone You Loved that made my dad realize this is a great show.

Wayne Brady - he is such an amazing singer, and he is just a great dancer, performer, and showman.

Lil Wayne - I thought he was pretty good, but I understand why he was unmasked first, as it made for a massive first reveal of the season.

Drew Carey - surprisingly a pretty good singer, but I knew he wouldn’t get far in the competition.

Chaka Khan - yet another living legend, but I am genuinely surprised she got unmasked when she did, as Rob Gronkowski was in the same group as her.

Tony Hawk - did a great job singing Friday I’m In Love, but it wasn’t surprising that he was the first out in his group.

Dionne Warwick - yet another living legend that I feel got unmasked when she did because it could not have been more obvious that it was her.

Tom Bergeron - another celebrity who is not a singer that is surprisingly good at singing.

Sarah Palin - moving on.

Bella Thorne - one of the most middle of the road contestants the show has ever had.

JoJo Siwa - certainly one of the most enthusiastic contestants the show has ever had.

Rob Gronkowski - how did he last as long as he did?

Jordyn Woods - she is such an amazing singer for someone who is really just famous for her connections to the Kardashians.

Bret Michaels - one of the surprisingly few rock singers the show has had, and he was certainly good.

Hunter Hayes - another very good singer, but I find it very bizarre that he was in the same season and eventually the same episodes as Jesse McCartney, who essentially gave the same performances.

Jackie Evancho - another amazing singer, and I hope that she continues to go forward with her career.

Barry Zito - another very good athlete who became a singer, though I am a little surprised that he made it further than the last two celebrities I said.

Bow Wow - one of the best rappers the show has had.

Jesse McCartney - just such an amazing singer.

Kandi Burruss - another amazing singer, also the only star of the Real Housewives who will ever win the show.

Busta Rhymes - for such an iconic rapper, he did not deserve to be the first unmasking of Season 4.

Mickey Rourke - everything about his time on the show is easily the weirdest moment of the whole series.

Brian Austin Green - pretty good at singing, but considering what group and what season he was in, when he got unmasked makes perfect sense.

Mark Sanchez - surprisingly a pretty good singer, and also one of the most surprising unmaskings for me, as the clue package did not suggest that it could have been anybody.

Wendy Williams - just search a video of a Lips costume singing Native New Yorker, and you’ll have your answer of what I think of her.

Bob Saget - surprisingly pretty good at singing.

Clint Black & Lisa Hartman Black - the first group contestant, and they could not have started off any stronger.

Lonzo Ball - pretty good at rapping.

Dr Elvis Francois - for someone who is just a doctor who uploaded some covers to the internet, he is an amazing singer.

Paul Anka - he is an absolute legend, and he is also a good singer.

Taylor Dayne - she is such an amazing singer.

Chloe Kim - another athlete who is an amazing singer. Seriously, she should put out some music when her snowboarding career is over.

Tori Kelly - she is such an amazing singer.

Nick Carter - he is yet another amazing singer.

Aloe Blacc - yet another amazing singer.

LeAnn Rimes - one of the best winners the show has ever had.

Kermit The Frog - yes, a fictional puppet was a contestant. Still gave an entertaining performance.

Caitlyn Jenner - really not a singer.

Danny Trejo - living proof that just because someone is singing a song with very few lyrics like Wild Thing, doesn’t mean that it will be good performance at all. With all due respect of course.

Logan Paul - not the best singer, but not the worst singer, so let’s just leave it at that.

Nick Cannon - this was the show’s way of bringing him back after he tested positive for Covid, and he is actually pretty good at singing. Still find it strange that whenever the panelists do a special performance at the beginning of an episode, he almost never joins them.

Mark McGrath - He is a very good singer.

Bobby Brown - I know that he is quite problematic, but he is also such a great singer.

Tamera Mowry - for someone who hasn’t done any singing in recent years, she is still a great singer.

Tyrese Gibson - he is a great singer, but he really phoned it in during his last few performances.

Hanson - the first entire group to do the show together, and they are easily among one of the best.

Omarion - he is such an amazing singer and dancer.

Wiz Khalifa - he is another great rapper the show had as a contestant.

JoJo - she is such an amazing singer.

Nick Lachey - he is such a great singer.

Dwight Howard - he is surprisingly pretty good at singing.

Vivica A Fox - She was okay at singing.

Toni Braxton - she is a great singer who definitely got unmasked this early because of health issues.

Tyga - he is a good rapper, but he chose a song where he did no singing during the chorus.

Larry The Cable Guy - everything about his time on the show was weird in the best way imaginable.

Ruth Pointer - another living legend who got eliminated surprisingly early, as while she was up against three great singers, I thought she would at least be in the competition longer than Willie Robertson.

Rob Schneider - surprisingly very good at singing.

Honey Boo Boo & Mama June - among the worst contestants the show has ever had.

Johnny Rotten - I don’t know what’s crazier, his entrance to the stage, his great performance of School’s Out, his completely bizarre performance of I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow, or even the fact that Johnny Rotten was a contestant on The Masked Singer. Whichever is the craziest, I know for certain that I loved everything about his time on the show.

Natasha Bedingfield - she is just an amazing singer.

Willie Robertson - surprisingly a very good singer.

Bobby Berk - surprisingly very great at singing.

Faith Evans - She is another amazing singer

Katharine McPhee & David Foster - she is yet another amazing singer, while he did absolutely nothing.

Todrick Hall - he is an amazing singer and dancer.

Jewel - she is such an amazing singer who deserved her win.

William Shatner - if you are familiar with any of his covers of famous songs, you will know what his performance sounded like. He was also apparently going to sing a rap song for his second performance. I have no idea whether or not it’s a good thing or a bad thing that we never heard it.

Eric Idle - As a singer, he was okay, but what makes him super memorable is the fact that Paul McCartney tweeted about him being on the show hours before, and the fact that he started the tradition of singers singing their signature songs after getting unmasked.

Chris Kirkpatrick - he is a very good singer that was just one of many robberies as a result of the format of only one contestant moving on at the end of each episode.

Jeff Dunham - not the worst singer the show has ever had, but still not very good.

Montell Jordan - yet another great singer that was robbed by this one contestant moves on format.

Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland - they are good singers, but I would have been surprised if they made it to another episode.

Daymond John - not the worst singer of Season 8, but I am surprised he made it to the Battle Royale.

Mario Cantone - yet another amazing singer that was robbed by the format.

Gloria Gaynor - read what I said about Mario Cantone above.

Jerry Springer - not the best singer, but I don’t feel comfortable saying anything mean about him, as he is no longer with us, and had connections to Stamford.

Kat Graham - great singer who only lasted two episodes, but I honestly think that it should have been more, and she was another victim of the format.

Joey Lawrence - another good singer that was robbed by the format.

Le’Veon Bell - he did a great job singing Jump On It, but his Battle Royale performance was not the best.

George Foreman - he did a surprisingly good job for someone who is a former boxer and had a giant Venus Flytrap over his head.

George Clinton - he did a very good job for someone who is in his 80s, but I’m not sure if I feel he was robbed.

Chris Jericho - I feel very conflicted about him, as while he is a pretty good singer, and he is a heavy metal singer, every one of his performances devolved into screaming.

Adam Carolla - he robbed us of living in a world where we never got to hear him sing You’re So Vain.

Linda Blair - she is an okay singer who performed an admittedly weak song with Abracadabra by The Steve Miller Band.

Ray Parker Jr - he is a very good singer, but I don’t know if I can confidently say that the guy who sings Ghostbusters was robbed.

Nikki Glaser - surprisingly a very good singer, and one of the few celebrities whose career got bigger after they were on the show.

Wilson Phillips - another amazing group contestant.

Amber Riley - amazing singer who more than deserved her win and saved the show after a terrible Season 7.

Dick Van Dyke - an absolute living legend who is the perfect season opener reveal.

Sara Evans - another amazing singer who got robbed by the format.

Howie Mandel - if you ever wondered what it sounds like when a person is singing while they are being strangled, just listen to his performance.

Debbie Gibson - she did amazing for someone who literally got 24 hours notice that she was going to be on the show, and I think she was also robbed as well.

Grandmaster Flash - this show is how I learned that he is not a rapper, but a hip hop DJ, as he gave a performance of Rapture by Blondie in the weirdest falsetto I have ever heard in my life.

Michael Bolton - amazing performance from someone that I feel requested to only be on one episode.

Malin Akerman - she was a very good singer, but I don’t know if I can say that she was robbed by the format.

Lele Pons - she gave an amazing performance of a Shakira song and even managed to sound like her, but I don’t think that I can say that she was robbed.

Alexa Bliss - she gave a good performance, but she was not robbed by the format.

Holly Robinson Peete - she is another very good singer, but I’m not sure if I can say that she was robbed by the format.

George Wendt - I don’t feel comfortable saying anything mean about someone who died this year, so I will just say that he gave us the most unique performance of The Power Of Love in history.

Christine Quinn - she was an alright singer who gave a unique twist on Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Dee Snider - a lot of singers have shown their range on the show, but I never guessed that he would be one of them, but I am so happy that he was.

Alicia Witt - she is an amazing singer and an amazing musician, assuming she actually was playing the piano in her second performance, but she was also robbed by the format.

Melissa Joan Hart - she was a good singer, but she was not robbed by the format.

Lou Diamond Phillips - he is a surprisingly great singer with an incredible amount of range.

Keenan Allen - another athlete who is also an amazing singer.

Olivia Culpo - she is surprisingly a very great singer.

Pentatonix - you already know they’re great singers.

David Archuleta - he is obviously an amazing singer.

Bishop Briggs - I know that some people might not stand her “screaming” voice, but personally, I think she is one of the best winners the show has ever had.

Anthony Anderson - Surprisingly a pretty good singer, and he did a good job with Come On Eileen.

Tom Sandoval - actually a very good singer, but he probably got unmasked when he did because the audience was full of people who are Team Ariana, and they realized that Ken’s guess was correct, and voted him off the show.

Michael Rapaport - Is he a good singer? Not really. Was he entertaining during his time on the show? Absolutely.

Billie Jean King - not a singer at all, but an absolute legend, and it’s so cool that she performed the song Elton John wrote for her while she was on Elton John Night.

Tyler Posey - gave an early 2000s pop punk vibe to every song he performed that surprisingly worked for all of them.

Luann de Lesseps - did a pretty good job with It’s Raining Men, but made a weird choice during the Smackdown. I know she does a lot of cabaret singing, but Mickey by Toni Basil is not the type of song that should be performed in this way.

Metta World Peace - he was pretty good, but he sounded like he was out of breath several times.

Ashley Parker Angel - he is still an amazing singer for someone who has retired from a career in entertainment.

Ginuwine - yeah, he’s a great singer.

Sebastian Bach - I never thought that I would say that a heavy metal singer known for screaming was a great singer, but he absolutely was, and I’m glad he was on the show.

John Oates - he is actually a really great singer.

Keyshia Cole - she is such a great singer.

Macy Gray - she is an incredibly divisive singer, as some people can’t stand her voice, while some people consider her a legend, and frankly, I feel the same way about her in different ways.

Janel Parrish - she is a surprisingly amazing singer.

John Schneider - he is a surprisingly amazing singer, and him being on the show is probably also the only time I could say that I was rooting for the guy from Mount Kisco.

Ne-Yo - he is such an amazing singer and dancer.

Kevin Hart - he was there as a joke to mess with Nick Cannon, but frankly, the funniest part was the weird shoes he was wearing as part of his costume.

Savannah Chrisley - she is proof that just because you are not the best singer, that does not mean you should ever try.

Joe Bastianich - he is surprisingly a very good singer.

Billy Bush - Is there anything below middle of the road but above bad? Because that’s where he falls.

Sisqo - he is such an amazing singer and dancer.

Colton Underwood - he is actually very good at singing.

DeMarcus Ware - he gave a surprisingly great performance of Everybody Wants To Rule The World, but because he was a Wildcard Contestant introduced in an episode with two unmaskings, he was absolutely robbed.

Charlie Wilson - he is an absolute legend and such an amazing singer.

Kate Flannery - she is a surprisingly great singer.

Jenifer Lewis - she is such a great singer, and another legend.

Corey Feldman - I had already been familiar with the fact that certain people had said that he was not a good singer, but when I heard him sing Hold On by Wilson Phillips, I thought he sounded good. Then he performed It’s Tricky by Run DMC, and I started to understand where everyone was coming from.

Clay Aiken & Ruben Studdard - they are both such amazing singers.

Chrissy Metz - she is a surprisingly great singer.

Thelma Houston - she is another legend who is also a great singer.

Scott Porter - he is a surprisingly amazing singer.

Vanessa Hudgens - she is such an amazing singer.

John Elway - there is a reason why he was the first unmasking of Season 12.

Yvette Nicole Brown - I would say that I am surprised that she is a great singer, but I’m not, as I have heard her sing before, and she sounded great.

Marsai Martin - she is actually a pretty good singer.

Paula Cole - she is such an amazing singer, and her performance of Pompeii is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.

Andy Richter - he was just as good on The Masked Singer as he was on Dancing With The Stars, which if you saw the show, you know what I’m talking about. He was also just as entertaining on both shows, but at least the audience knew what made a good performance and got him unmasked when they did.

Laverne Cox - she is surprisingly a pretty good singer.

Natalie Imbruglia - she is such a great singer.

Bethany Hamilton - she is not the best singer, but she is such an inspiration to everybody, that I can’t criticize her.

Drake Bell - yeah, he’s a great singer, and his voice is still exactly the same as it was when he was on Nickelodeon.

Jana Kramer - she is another great singer.

Bronson Arroyo - he is another athlete who is also a great singer.

Kobie Turner - he is easily among the best athletes who can sing.

AJ Michalka - she is such an amazing singer.

Mario - he is such an amazing singer and dancer.

Boyz II Men - they are such amazing singers and are easily among the best winners the show has ever had.

Cedric The Entertainer - he is not the best singer, but he also performed SexyBack, which is not a good song, so in a weird way, it cancelled itself out and became good.

Oscar De La Hoya - he is a pretty good singer.

Aubrey O’Day - she is such a great singer.

Scheana Shay - she is a pretty good singer.

Flavor Flav - he is not the best singer, but he is so entertaining.

James Van Der Beek - even after already hearing him sing on the show We Are Family, I could not believe how great he was at singing.

Candace Cameron Bure - she was actually pretty good at singing.

Method Man - another legendary rapper who might not have been the best performer, but also probably should have stuck around for another episode.

Erika Jayne - she was a pretty good singer.

Matthew Lawrence - surprisingly a really great singer.

Edwin McCain - he is such an amazing singer.

Brian Kelley - as someone who is not the biggest fan of country music, I thought he was great and gave so many amazing performances.

Meg Donnelly - she is such an amazing singer that I hope continues to further her music career, which I think she is with her recent Broadway debut.

Andy Grammer - he is such an amazing singer and I love him so much.

Gretchen Wilson - at the start of the season, I thought she was a standard great singer, but as we got towards the end of the season, she completely won me over to the point that I was genuinely okay with her winning.

Overall, those are my brief thoughts on all the contestants on The Masked Singer! I hope you all enjoyed what I had to say, and I’ll see you all soon with another blog post!
