Margaret Cho - The Poodle



If you have been watching the show The Masked Singer since the first season, you probably remember a contestant known as the Poodle, who was revealed to be comedian and actress Margaret Cho. While her time on the show was rather short, as she only had two performances, she certainly had some memorable moments while she was there. We all remember her singing Time After Time while on a swing, and we all remember how she was famously the first person that Ken failed to guess correctly even though she was one of his costars. 

For those of you who are curious as to what she is currently up to and where you can see her do stand-up comedy, right now she is on a tour that she calls her “Live and Livid” tour. This is a tour that goes across the entire country and will last from September to December. She has described this tour as being “a show celebrating my 40 years as a stand-up comedian,” in which she will be “radiating rage about homophobia, sexism, racism and the fight to stay alive in a culture that is killing us daily.” 

For those of you who live on the West Coast, you can see her show on November 18 at the Graton Resort & Casino in Rohnert Park at 8:00 PM. 

For people who live in the Northeast like me, she will be performing a total of four shows there as part of her tour. Her first show will be at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey, on October 20 at 7:30 PM. Her next show is the very next day, October 21, at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, CT, and it also starts at 7:30 PM. Her third show is the day after that, October 22, at The Paramount in Huntington, New York, and it also starts at 7:30 PM. Her fourth show is on November 8 at 7:00 PM and will happen at The Town Hall in New York City as part of the New York Comedy Festival.

We have come up with three more celebrities that we feel would be great contestants for The Masked Singer! As always, we hope you will agree with who we think should do it and the reasoning as to why. The first celebrity that we think should do it is actor and comedian Denis Leary. While this might seem like a random choice, we have a good reason for why he should do it. He has done some singing as part of his comedy, and his voice is actually very good. What he is singing is typically very offensive, but he puts as much effort into it as any other singer would with their performance. The show has already had several comedians that you had no idea were as good as they are at singing, so Denis Leary would be another great person to add to that category. He also has several accolades that the show loves, as he has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award and three Emmy Awards. The first celebrity that we feel would be perfect for the show is actor Billy Bob Thornton. While we understand that this one might be a long shot compared to other names we have said in the past, we have reasoning for why we chose him. He has done a lot of singing in his career, even going on tour with his band several times in the last several years, and he would be the perfect celebrity that is not known primarily for singing to have as a contestant.
