Carnival Night

Image
After more than a month since the season premiere and six amazing episodes with Group A and Group B, it was time to finally meet Group C in Carnival Night! I was looking forward to this very much, as since we were going to be meeting the last five contestants seven episodes in, it almost felt like it was another season premiere. I was also intrigued by what the theme meant, as I only knew carnival as being a traveling amusement show, so I was curious as to how that would translate to the stage. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I was wrong in my assumption of what it meant, as I quickly found out they were referring to the festive season that occurs during the close of the Christian pre-Lenten period that is celebrated around the world. I was also intrigued as to what songs would be performed, as I knew that this was a theme night that was vague enough to allow the contestants to choose whatever songs they wanted to sing.  The first performer of the night was Yorkie. In h...

Grand Ole Opry Night

After two amazing episodes with Group B already, it was time for the Group B Finals with Grand Ole Opry Night! I was looking forward to this episode, as the show had already done a Country Night in Season 9, and that was a great episode with some great performances, so I felt the same would happen here. I was also looking forward to this episode when I found out who would be performing, as one of the contestants is a country singer and the other two performed country songs very well on the show “We Are Family,” so I felt we were in for three great performances.  The episode opened the same way all the other Group Finals have opened, with a group performance from the remaining Group B contestants. They performed “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)” by Big & Rich, which was perfect for all three of their voices, and also let them show off the power in their voices. For whatever reason, Rita was not on this episode, so in her place was actress and comedian Casey Wilson.  After that...

Ghostbusters Night

After an amazing start to Group B last week with Voices of Olympus Night, it was time for Ghostbusters Night! I was intrigued by this theme night, as I have frequently enjoyed the theme nights that are dedicated to a specific movie, and I was also curious as to what songs would be performed on a theme night like this.  The episode started in an entertaining way, as all the panelists came out dressed as Ghostbusters and were wearing proton packs, their car the Ecto-1 was on the stage, the stage had a backdrop of New York City, the dancers were also dressed like Ghostbusters, and there was a person dressed as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. I was a little surprised that they didn’t bring back Ray Parker Jr for a special performance of the song “Ghostbusters” at the beginning of the episode, because he has been a contestant before, and they like bringing back past contestants for special performances at the start of an episode. That being said, it was still nice that they got Ernie Hud...

Voices Of Olympus Night

Image
After three amazing episodes with Group A, it was finally time to meet Group B in Voices of Olympus Night! I was very excited for this, as since it had been three weeks with Group A, it felt like it was the start of a new season, which I think is probably how I will feel when Group C premieres at the end of the month. I also felt that this was an interesting theme, as while I knew that it would result in creative stage design and the panelists dressing up for the theme, I also knew that the theme was vague enough that the contestants would be performing whatever songs they wanted to, so I knew we would be getting a variety of unique songs.  The episode opened with Nick providing a dramatic narration to introduce the episode, and then introducing the panelists, who were all dressed according to the theme. I was not surprised that the episode didn’t begin with a guest performance, as I don’t feel there are any songs that are appropriate for the theme. After the introduction, it was t...
