Season 11 Information So Far

In three weeks, the Eleventh Season of The Masked Singer will premiere! While we don’t have much information right now, what we do have is very interesting. 

While it was not surprising that the show got renewed for an Eleventh Season, what was surprising was the schedule of when it was taped. It started production just weeks after Season 10 had wrapped up filming. At this point, I had several questions and concerns. I was wondering how they were able to get so many celebrities on such short notice, if Robin and Nicole, who both had prior engagements, would be back, and if they would be able to put on a good season with almost no break after the previous season. I found out in the next few days that Robin was no longer going to be part of a tour so he could be on the show, and Nicole went forward with appearing in the West End production of “Sunset Boulevard.” It was then announced a few days later that Nicole was going to be replaced by recording artist Rita Ora, which makes sense as she is a panelist on the UK version of the show. At the same time, it was also revealed that the show would be taping at a different studio for the first time in years, which I found to be surprising, as I was wondering what made them change location.

The first trailer for the season dropped on December 20, and it did a great job getting me excited for it. It simply showed a few clips of what to expect, while beautiful music was playing at the same time. It also showed several costumes that were going to be part of the season, including one that seemed to be unmasking himself before it was time to do so. Trailers that were released in the following weeks showed a few more costumes, and an article was released that gave some great information about the season. I will now talk about every piece of information about the season that we have as of now. 

The costume that was shown to be unmasking himself is The Book, which I might have an idea as to who it could be. The costume itself is shown to be a single piece that is easy to remove, which means that this was planned. The fact that they are willingly unmasking themselves when they shouldn’t implies that they are trying to mess with everybody. Nick also telling him “You look very stupid” shows that this is someone he knows. With all this information, my early guess for The Book is Joel McHale. He has been on the show several times, he would try to derail the show by unmasking when he shouldn’t, and he is also somebody that Nick Cannon would feel comfortable saying looks stupid. Also, Fox is airing two episodes of “I Can See Your Voice” with Joel as the guest host over the next two weeks, and they are airing the last two episodes of “We Are Family” in two weeks where he is the guest host, which is all in preparation for the return of his show “Animal Control,” which is on the same night and airs immediately after The Masked Singer. It almost makes too much sense for them to unmask him minutes before his show returns, as they have done things like this before with Joe Buck and Bob Saget. A trailer that was released last night confirms my theories even more, as they showed the panel reacting in amazement to who was underneath the mask of The Book, the panel all walking onto the stage after he unmasks himself and laughing at what is happening, and when Nick is telling him that he looks stupid and that he’s ruining the show, we can see two gloved hands pointing at him.

The next costume that they have officially revealed is The Goldfish, which is in my opinion, a beautiful costume. Also, considering they put her on the poster that promotes the whole season, I’m going to predict that she is a great singer that will go far in the competition, possibly even to the finale.

The next costume that they have officially revealed is The Gumball, which is a gumball machine, that in my opinion looks awesome, as it has so much attention to detail. The body of the costume is the base of the machine, the head is full of gumballs, the eyes are next to the dispenser, the body also has a coin slot and crank, and it also has yellow robotic arms and legs. 

The next costume that they have officially revealed is The Lizard, which I think looks cool, as he is dressed like a stereotypical cool kid, having a long-sleeved shirt with his name in the middle, striped pants, and a backwards baseball cap.

The next costume that they have officially revealed is The Starfish, which looks cool because it’s a giant blue starfish that is wearing a swimsuit, cap, and snorkel for some reason, and the mouthpiece of the snorkel doubles as a microphone. 

The next costume that they have officially revealed so far is The Ugly Sweater, which in my opinion, looks amazing. It looks nothing like a traditional ugly sweater, as the body of the costume is a bunch of zigzag stitches that are different colors, and the head is some sort of yarn ball with a goofy smile and spiky hair. 

The last costume that the have officially revealed so far is The Lovebird. It is a very colorful costume that has a lot of green, some yellow, an orange head, brown feet, and is wearing a green vest and a pocket watch.

There are also a few costumes that have been shown in trailers but haven’t been officially revealed yet. These include The Beets or The Radishes, which is a duo costume that I have three early guesses for, which are Aly & AJ, Maddie & Tae, and TLC, The Clock, which is a very detailed costume that looks like Cogsworth from “Beauty & The Beast,” and The Spaghetti, which is a unique costume, as it is wearing a chef’s coat and chef’s hat, the head is spaghetti in the shape of a moustache, and its eyes are meatballs.

There are also going to be some exciting them nights this season. There will be a night dedicated to the music of Billy Joel and a night dedicated to the music of Queen. There will also be a theme night dedicated to the movie “The Wizard of Oz,” and my guess is that they will either be singing songs from the movie or songs by the rock bands Toto and Kansas, and maybe someone will sing the song “Tin Man” by America. There will also be a theme night centered around the “Transformers” franchise, and my guess is that maybe they will be performing songs about cars and robots, or songs by the band The Cars, or songs that were featured in the “Transformers” movies. There will also be a theme night centered around girl groups, so I expect that we will hear songs from Destiny’s Child, En Vogue, TLC, and Spice Girls. There will also be a theme night that they call “Shower Anthems,” which I’m guessing will either be popular songs to sing in the shower or songs that these contestants specifically like to sing in the shower. They will also be bringing back two theme nights that they have already had, which are TV Theme Night and “Soundtrack of My Life,” which is where the contestants sing a song that has personal meaning to them.

There also seems to be another change based on a new trailer that was released yesterday. It appears that the screens at the back of the stage now say “Take It Off” when it’s time for the celebrity to unmask. This is a small change, but it’s just something I thought was worth sharing.
